Barry back to winning ways

Last Saturday Barry welcomed Cardiff Quins in a League fixture and in the end ran out comfortable winners by 48 - 24 to gain a bonus point.
It was perhaps not a game to remember mainly due to the very late information that Quins front row problems meant that the game was to be played with unopposed scrums and in consequence were only allowed 14 players.
This it appeared to have Barry to believe that this was to be an afternoon stroll with this belief added to when they scored a try straight from the kick off by Danny Ryan with the Quins defence nowhere to be seen.
This led to Barry believing they could play Barbarian rugby and after finding that the Quins possessed enough pace in their side to worry them continued it that vein and despite going further ahead with a try from Corey Warrey converted by Dylan Robertson for a 12 point lead their play was littered by errors and needed some control  exercised.
This lack of control was to allow Quins into the game where they gathered a loose ball to easily find a defensive gap to score a converted try
Now alive to the threat Barry sensibly began using the pack to wear the opposition down which had it's rewards as Quins were forced into conceding penalties which put them deep into the 22.They got close on a couple of occasions but poor execution let them down. The pressure finally told as a lineout saw them spread the ball accurately this time for Danny Ryan to cross for his second try which went unconverted but gave them a 17 - 7 lead with half time approaching.
Barry were caught offside at the restart and penalised again seconds later.Going for a lineout Quins won the ball  and crashed through the Barry defence for a converted try which proved to be the last action of the half.
Despite having the majority of both territory and possession the 17 - 14 scoreline was a reflection on Barry's tactical awareness
and lack of ball control.
Things got worse as Barry were penalised virtually straight from the kick off giving Quins the points to bring the game level.
Barry now realised thy were in a game and despite the handling errors continuing finally broke the deadlock after a Wayne Jones break  saw him find Einan Scott on his outside who crossed for the try which he also converted.
Barry just about salvaged the restart and a hasty misplaced clearance from Quins only found Quentin Corson who raced in for his first First XV try which went unconverted but had taken Barry clear at 29 - 17.
Quins came back on the attack and were fortunate when a charged down Barry clearance fell right into their hands for a simple try and conversion to reduce the deficit to only 5 points.
Despite that try Quins were understandably beginning to feel the pace and the introduction of fresh legs was only going to add to their problems,
Launching another attack Barry got into the Quins 22 where the ball reached sub Alyn Evans who crossed for the try which again went unconverted.
They were to increase that lead immediately when a quickly taken penalty caught Quins offguard allowing James Hollister to cross for Einan Scott to convert and the score now stood at 41 - 24 as the game entered its's final minutes.
Barry were to spurn one more chance before Barry spread the ball wide to give Wayne Jones the final try, converted by Einan Scott., giving a final scoreline of 48 - 24.
In the end a comfortable win and five points but not one of their most clinical performances
Things will certainly be different next Saturday when Barry travel to high flying Cilfynydd for a 2.30pm kick off. A coach will leave the Club at 12.30pm
