Barry RFC Presentation Evening

A full house was the order of the day as the Annual Presentation Awards Evening was held at the Clubhouse recently.
The first award was a presentation to Dominic Busitill to recognise his achievement on receiving his 50th International Cap for Malta.
There followed the awarding of Club Colours to those who have played 50 games for the Club and for the first time included players from the Ladies Section. Those receiving the Colours were Lucy Cahill, Rebecca Helmore and Anna O'Neill whilst Dale Evans and John Miles achieved the magic number from the Senior Section.
Individual awards followed for each section with those recognised being as follows.
Ladies Player of Year - Lucy Cahill, Most Improved Player -Vicki Williams, Ladies Players Player - Jessica Dix, - Clubwoman of Year - Jodie Jordan with the final Spirit Of the Bombettes going to Louise Shanahan.
Youth Player of Year - Ben Rose, - Most Improved Player - Ieuan Rendall - Players Player - Harry Morgan Grant and Managers Player - Chandler Groves.
2nd Team Player of Year - Dave Evans and Daniel Gill for Most Improved Player.
3rd Team Player of Year - Matthew Jones.
1st Team Player of Year - Rob Williams, - Most Improved Player - Jon Miles - Club Player of Year - Kyle Barross.
Bethan Howell Award went to Einan Scott for his overall contribution to the season with the Clubman of the Year being won this year by Gareth Hall.
The final award, The Chairman's Trophy, was presented by Tom Haigh to Glyn Pirso recognising his commitment over the season.
The Club wish to thank Ken Chow and Channings Dental Services for their valuable sponsorship of the trophies.
Prior to the awards the assembled gathering had been entertained by Phil Steele, from BBC's Scrum Five, who kept everyone entertained with tales and stories from the inside of Welsh Rugby and managed to put down any would be heckler with a sharp riposte.
The evening went into the night and the day that followed would have seen plenty of sore heads judging by the great atmosphere throughout the evening.
Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all involved in the playing of rugby at the Club for what for some sections has been a difficult season.
It seems strange reporting on last seasons awards, when this Thursday Pre- Season Training begins at the Club from 7pm. Players old and new from Youth to Seniors and Ladies are most welcome as we head into what I'm sure will be another exciting season.
