Management Committee Update October 2020

Management Committee Update October 2020 As you are all probably aware by now our rugby brother, Sam Bowditch (Sambo) is seriously ill in hospital. We are receiving regular updates from Sam’s Mother, Sarah and we are all praying that this mountain of a man has the strength to punch through this and make a full recovery. Our thoughts, love and prayers go out to Sarah, Solomon and the rest of his family.

The management committee is working hard behind the scenes and we are having regular meetings. We are making good progress with the restructuring of the clubs management framework, for example:

  1. We are now a limited company, “Barry RFC Ltd”
  2. We have restructured our banking system.
  3. We are in the process of restructuring marketing and sales of merchandise/equipment and we plan to open a shop inside the club, utilising the old weights room.
  4. We currently have working groups reviewing: Our membership fee structure Our safeguarding policies
  5. This year’s Lotto and Christmas draw
  6. Funding and grant applications

Other Updates:

  1. Clubhouse development Our head coach, Liam Scott along with a Mike Morgan and our Coaching Development Officer Glyn Pirso have already started to have online meetings delivering helpful advice and guidance in relation to coaching and rugby development. We hope that all our coaches and managers are and will benefit from these virtual sessions and cascade information back down to players.
  2. The management committee want things to get back to normal as much as everybody else. We will do all that we can support you all get you back to training and playing as soon as it is safe to do so. We will not make any compromises in relation to safety and we trust that all our coaches, managers and players are supportive of the steps that we have taken so far and will continue to take to ensure the safety of you all.
  3. We have been meeting with local councillors and we are due to meet with Vale of Glamorgan representatives with a view to securing the club’s long-term future of our facilities at Reservoir Field.
  4. The pitch move is almost complete and this will create additional age grade pitches and serve to improve the experience of our younger players and supporters on match days.
  5. The viewing platform to the roof of the entrance porch is near to completion. The metal balustrading has arrived and awaiting installation.
  6. The new shower boiler system has been installed and is up and running. Let’s hope we get a chance to use the showers this year!

In conclusion if anybody has any suggestions, comments or complaints to make to the management committee then please rest assured that any such communications will be received with the highest degree of professionalism and discretion. Please direct all communications to our Chairman mprosser.barryrfc@gmail.com Please stay safe and well and hopefully we can all be back to normal as soon as possible.
