Barry produced one of their worst performances of the season to lose the Vale of Glamorgan derby to Dinas Powis.
With the players perhaps hungover from the mid-week cup win over Rumney, this display was the polar opposite to Tuesday’s thrilling victory.
Unlike their opponents who had a wide range of players to select from after their 1st XV game was called off, coach Rhidian Scott and manager Ken Chow were left to face a long list of injuries to deal with. The preparations were not helped when Curtis Miller dropped out just before kick-off, forcing Chow onto the bench.
Barry were outplayed in all departments and showed little aggression – the key to their success on Tuesday – in the contact area. Instead they allowed Dinas Powis to completely dominate the game and the match was effectively over before half-time.
With the missed tackle count reaching astronomical proportions, coach Scott voiced his displeasure at the interval but things did not much improve in the second half.
Jake Goodfellow did manage a late consolation try which his efforts deserved, but overall this was a bad day at the office which leaves the management and supporters frustrated.
Barry 2nd XV return to league action next weekend away at Rumney. Let us hope for a vastly improved performance.
