Sale and Consumption of Alcohol

The Club’s Policy is not to allow any person under the age of 18 to consume alcohol on the Club’s Premises or grounds, even though The Licensing Act 2003 does allow us to permit individuals aged 16 or 17 to consume beer, wine or cider with a meal.

Persons under the age of 18 are not allowed to purchase alcohol on Barry RFC (BRFC) premises, under any circumstance, even if they are purchasing the alcohol for a person aged 18 or over.

Any individual, if challenged, who can’t prove that they are 18 will not be served alcohol or allowed to consume alcohol on LBRFC premises or grounds. The only acceptable Proof of Age Documents are:

• A Passport.

• A Photo Driving License.

• A Proof of Age Scheme Card that carries the “PASS Hologram” Logo.

BRFC Bar Staff are under instruction from the BRFC Committee not to:

• Sell alcohol to a person who is drunk.

• Sell alcohol to a person who is obtaining an alcoholic drink for a person who is drunk.

• Allow drinking games or run promotions that encourage the excessive consumption of alcohol.

Only alcohol bought from Barry RFC may be consumed on the premises of the club and surrounding grounds as per our licencing Agreement. Under no circumstances can alcohol be brought into the club for consumption without the express permission of the President, Chairman, or Secretary. Anyone found consuming alcohol not purchased from the club will be asked to leave immediately.

Smoking

• Smoking, including the use of all types of electronic cigarettes, is not allowed in any part of the BRFC Clubhouse.

• No person under the age of 18 is allowed to smoke or use electronic cigarettes on BRFC premises or grounds.

• Coaches are asked to discourage adults from smoking, including the use of all types of electronic cigarettes, on the Training Areas during Mini and Junior Coaching Sessions and games.

• There is a smoking area in front of the clubhouse. All smoking and vaping must take place there .

• Please dispose of your cigarette butts, and other packaging appropriately in containers provided.

Do not mess up your club by throwing them away.

Drugs

The sale and/or use of illegal or illicit drugs by individuals associated with BRFC is strictly prohibited.

Barry RFC operates a Zero Tolerance Policy regarding the sale and/or consumption of illegal drugs, this includes on BRFC premises or grounds as well as performance enhancing drugs taken off site.

BRFC is fully committed to following the World Anti-Doping Agency guidelines and the #KeepRugbyClean campaign which prohibits a list of substances and methods in rugby and all sports.

Any Club member who fails a drugs test or is convicted of any offence in connection to the misuse of drugs will be suspended from the club, and in the case of players, will be barred from representing the club with immediate effect.

Any person BRFC who is found taking or to have taken illegal drugs on BRFC premises or grounds will:

• Be required to leave the premises immediately and the incident will be reported to the police.

• If they are a club member, they will face an internal BRFC Disciplinary Hearing which could result in them

being banned from the Club.

• Be encouraged to seek counselling and help with any addiction.

Any person BRFC who is found selling illegal drugs on BRFC premises or grounds will:

• Be required to leave the premises immediately and the incident will be reported to the police.

• Any evidence, such as CCTV footage, will be supplied to the police.

• Be banned from the Club.
