The driving rain didn't deter Barry from producing one of their best performances of the season as they beat fellow League contenders Cilfynydd by 30 - 5 at the Reservoir Field last Saturday.

It was not so much the scoreline that impressed but the manner in which they dominated the game overall both in defence and attack, despite the difficult handling conditions and against such opposition.

Playing against the elements and up the slope in the first half Barry were under early pressure but their confidence in carrying the ball out of defence soon brought them into Cil. territory.

A fine 60m. break from Dylan Robertson took play deep into the visitors 22 where they were awarded a penalty which Kyle Barross kicked for an early lead.Attacking again from the restart they  went further ahead from another penalty as the visitors found it difficult to cope with Barry's attacking game ,again Kyle Barross did the necessary and a 6 point lead.

As much as Cil. tried to apply pressure from a series of penalties, Barry's first up tackling denied them any chance of scoring.

It was soon Barry back on attack and looking likely to add to their score, but this time it was the visitors defence that held the upper hand and carried on doing so as the first half drew to a close.

With the weather worsening expected handling errors caused plenty of stoppages and as the whistle went Barry had, against the elements, earned their lead.

With the wind and rain at their backs for the second half Barry scored straight from the kick off.A scrum following a knock on saw them move the ball quickly with Tom Perry in a planned move coming at pace from deep crossing without a hand being laid on him to score giving Kyle Barross an easy conversion and Barry were ahead 13 - 0.

Again Cil tried to get themselves back in the game and made one or two sorties into the Barry half but struggled to find a way through.

They finally managed to get some reward for their endeavours following a lineout drive from a penalty took them over the line for a try which went unconverted.

Barry took advantage of some handling errors to get back on the attack with their efforts earning a penalty allowing Kyle Barross to add to the score and a lead at 16 - 5.

A further penalty after the restart saw Barry clear some 60m. downfield where the lineout ball was spread allowing Tom Perry his second try of the afternoon as he crashed through again Kyle Barross added the extras for a 23 - 5 lead.

As the minutes ticked by Barry remained in control and following a turnover close to their own line another huge clearance took play to within 5m of the Cil. line.

The lineout drive was halted but from the scrum which followed the ball found Brad White who forced his way over for the try, and with Kyle Barross knocking over the conversion Barry lead by 30 - 5 with only minutes remaining.

Barry were now in complete control and played out the remainder of the game on the attack but unable to get the 4th try which would have given them a bonus point.

As previously mentioned this was an impressive result with the quality of rugby played quite amazing considering the conditions.

It is also obvious that the squad are playing with a huge amount of confidence and the team spirit clearly shines through on the field of play.This is a huge boost as we approach the sharp end of the season.

Next Saturday Barry have a difficult fixture away to Aberdare, who have produced some good results recently.The kick off is at 2.30pm, with a coach leaving the Club at 12.30pm.
