Barry opened their season with an away trip to old familiar opposition Lydney in Gloucestershire.
The long trip to the other side of the border was not helped by some mishaps in preparations, including missing kit and water bottles! Fortunately the home side were on hand to lend the visitors their 2nd XV kit for the match.
Numerous new faces have been added to the playing squad, improving the strength in depth for head coach Jon Bryant to choose from. Inevitably, this will take time to gel but despite that it was a good performance in the first half by Barry. Unfortunately, some basic errors - a result of rustiness - cost the green-and-whites dearly as the home side opened up a 19 point lead.
Bryant rung the changes at half time to give the entire squad a run out, and his tactical juggling saw just reward when Barry themsleves scored 12 unanswered points in the second interval. Sion Vidal and John Miles both crossed whilst Einan Scott stroked over a conversion to leave the final score 19-12.
